About Us

Chuck Smith, CIE, Founder & President

Rhino Demolition Owner/President Chuck Smith brings an Environmental Science background along with 22 years of experience in the environmental industry. While serving in the U.S. Special Operations Command, he was in charge of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Division. He also served with the Health Hazards Control Branch in the Air Enforcement Division before moving on to the private industry and forming Rhino Demolition & Environmental Services, Corp. Chuck's experience in the Armed Forces and private industry has taken him from hands on field work to providing expert solutions in the environmental field which puts Rhino above his peers in the industry.

Chuck's high commitment to safety and excellent ratings is reflected in his adherence to all OSHA, EPA and state regulations. By his constant training of his employees and governing state rules, Rhino is known in the industry as the company you can call and count on to get the job done safely, on time and under budget.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoys the outdoors, boating, fishing, motorcycles, and camping, along with spending family time and participating in activities with his wife and four sons.

Jake Smith, Senior Project Manager

Jake came on board with Rhino Demolition in 2007 while attending school at N.C. State University. He began in the field as a worker, and has worked his way up as a supervisor, and now Senior Project Manager. He has extensive experience with asbestos abatement projects, lead based paint projects, mold remediation projects, crawlspace remediation projects, small and large scale demolition projects, and has worked in industrial environments, and many Military bases on the East Coast. To date, he has earned an Associate's Degree in Business from N.C. State University. He holds and maintains an asbestos supervisor license in NC and SC. Jake has earned certifications in: Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting; Lead Exposure in Construction and General Industry; and Indoor Environmentalist and Certified Mold Remediation Specialist Certificates. He is certified in Crime and Trauma scene Bio Recovery from the National Institute of Decontamination. He is also certified in First Aid in Accordance with the American Heart Association. Jake is the Safety Manager where his knowledge of OSHA work practices, EPA & state regulations, ensures Rhino provides safe and quality work that's done right, and in a professional manner for its clients, on the job site.

His ability to successfully supervise and manage jobs that range from small scale homes to large scale hotel sites, industrial plants, and military bases makes him an important part of the Rhino Team. His desire to go the extra mile for our customers to ensure a successful project makes him great to work with.

Jake has a wrestling background where he learned how hard work pays off. He was a 2-time State Champion in High School and All-American Wrestler. He was one of the top recruits in High School and continued his abilities in sports and academics on scholarship at N.C State University. He loves spending time with family and friends; the beach; the mountains; everything outdoors, especially fishing; loves sports, and enjoys watching college and professional sports.

Colleen Alton, Administrative Assistant

Colleen has over 10 years of experience providing administrative support, working in various industries such as construction, mortgage, real estate appraisal, hotel group sales, and education, as well as several years of supervisory experience in food service and seasonal photograph sales. Her attention to detail, customer service experience, strong computer skills and problem solving skills makes her an excellent asset to Rhino. Colleen started with Rhino in 2011, where she been assisting with the daily office operations, light bookkeeping, researching projects, and assisting project management from start to finish for each job. She is also the safety program coordinator, ensuring that all employees are up to date and in compliance with OSHA and state rules and regulations for asbestos, lead and mold.

Colleen has her BS in Business Administration, MS in Management and MBA, all from University of Maryland University College. She is originally from Baltimore and has lived in the Myrtle Beach area with her husband since early 2006. They are active members and volunteers with Risen Christ Lutheran Church in North Myrtle Beach. Colleen is also a volunteer with the North Myrtle Beach Home Depot's Team Depot (employee community volunteer program) , where she has assisted with several renovation projects. In her spare time, Colleen enjoys spending time with her family and friends; the beach; the dog park; and home improvement projects.
