GENERAL:

ARE YOU INSURED? Yes, Rhino carries general liability, pollution liability, auto, excess auto, professional liability and workman's comp and every client/GC/Owner is listed as additional insured.
I AM A HOMEOWNER, HOW WILL RHINO BILL ME FOR WORK THAT IS BEING COMPLETED ON MY HOME? All residential projects require 50% up front and balance due upon receipt after the work is completed.
WHAT PAYMENT TYPES DO YOU ACCEPT? Rhino accepts checks and we can take credit card payments over the phone.
IS AIR MONITORING, CLEARANCE AND TESTING INCLUDED IN YOUR PROPOSAL PRICE? If a price is included, it is a separate cost than the project price that Rhino is providing you; otherwise, no, air monitoring, clearance and testing is not included in our price.
IS A DUMPSTER REQUIRED TO BE ON SITE DURING WORK? It depends on the size/type of job and if there are any restrictions around the job site.
HOW MANY PROJECTS DID YOU COMPLETE IN 2010-2011? Approximately 250 total.
WHAT IS AN INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (IH)? According to www.abhi.org, "Anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards have always been the prime goal for the industrial hygiene professional. Traditionally, the Industrial Hygienist became proficient by some combination of education, training, and experience. Ideally, this knowledge is used to anticipate when a hazardous condition may occur and then presumably, take corrective action. But not everything can be anticipated, so the Industrial Hygienist must be able to recognize conditions that could lead to adverse health effects to workers or a community population. Once anticipated or recognized, the hazard could then be evaluated and eventually controlled to eliminate or reduce the impact of the hazard."

ASBESTOS:

• I AM REMODELING MY OLDER HOME, BUT I THINK I MAY HAVE ASBESTOS, WHAT DO I DO? You will need to contact an Industrial Hygienist (I.H.) who will come to your home to take some samples and evaluate if you do have asbestos and he/she will complete a report. This report will indicate if you do have asbestos, where and how much. After you have this report, please call Rhino and we will set up an appointment to come to your home. We will need to have a copy of the report. From this point, we will be able to review the quantities and be able to provide you with a quote, usually within 24-48 hours. You must have the asbestos report before Rhino can provide you a proposal with the quote.
• ARE ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES LICENSED IN ASBESTOS? Yes, all employees who do asbestos work in NC and SC carry a valid current asbestos license for those states.
• WHAT ARE THE WAITING PERIODS FOR STARTING AN ASBESTOS PROJECT AFTER THE ASBESTOS PERMIT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO SCDHEC? After Rhino has received a signed proposal or contract, we will put submit the permit application (usually within business days of receipt of proposal or contract). The waiting period clock starts on the day the application permit is postmarked and DHEC uses business days for the waiting period. See below for the waiting time:

• I HAVE AN EMERGENCY ASBESTOS JOB, IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE YOU START TOMORROW? We would need to get a copy of the asbestos survey, and letter from you (or owner representative) stating what the emergency is, how it became an emergency and how it is affecting day to day operations that would require an emergency abatement. We would fax this letter to DHEC along with the permit application for approval. There is no guarantee that it will be approved as an emergency approval.
• WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRIABLE AND NON-FRIABLE? When preparing for asbestos abatement, it is important to determine if asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are friable or non-friable because they are dealt with differently. The determination of friable or non-friable dictates which removal procedures, asbestos disposal techniques, and safety methods will be used, as regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Friability is the degree to which a solid substance can be broken up into smaller pieces with a minimum effort. In the case of asbestos, friable usually refers to whether the material can be broken down by a human hand.
Friable asbestos materials are the ones that are most dangerous. They easily release fibers into the air, and these fibers pose a significant health risk to anyone nearby.
Non-friable asbestos, on the other hand, is less likely to release fibers because the fibers are bound or locked into place. Non-friable asbestos is still a health risk, as it can be made friable if damaged or altered.

MOLD:

• I FOUND MOLD IN MY HOUSE, CAN YOU REMOVE IT? Yes, however, you will need to contact an Industrial Hygienist (I.H.) first to take some mold samples, have them evaluated and a report completed. Once this report is completed, please contact Rhino Demolition so we can review the report and your home, and provide you a proposal that includes scope of work and a quote. If you approve the proposal, you would sign and fax back to us and we would then contact you to set up a timeframe for the remediation.
• CAN I BE HOME WHILE THE MOLD REMEDIATION IS BEING COMPLETED? No. You will not be allowed to stay in your home while the mold remediation is taking place. Also, any animals you have should also be removed during the remediation.
• WILL PHOTOGRAPHS BE TAKEN DURING THE WORK? Yes, photos will be taken before, during and after the remediation.
• WHO PAYS FOR THE MOLD REPORT? The homeowner, building owner or GC (whoever is requesting the survey).

LEAD:

• HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE LEAD BASED PAINT IN MY HOME? You will need to contact an Industrial Hygienist (I.H.) who will come to your home to take some samples and evaluate if you do have Lead Paint and he/she will complete a report. This report will indicate if you do have Lead, where and how much. After you have this report, please call Rhino and we will set up an appointment to come to your home. We will need to have a copy of the report. From this point, we will be able to review the quantities and be able to provide you with a quote, usually within 24-48 hours. You must have the Lead report before Rhino can provide you a proposal with the quote.
• WHO PAYS FOR THE LEAD REPORT? The homeowner, building owner, or General Contractor (whoever is requesting the survey).
• DO YOU HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED TO REMOVE LEAD BASED PAINT? Yes, DO NOT attempt to remove yourself. Individuals have been poisoned by scraping and/ or sanding lead based paint, because these activities generate large amounts of lead dust when removed improper. All of our employees possess special training to remove lead based paint safely and securely.

SELECTIVE DEMO:

• DO YOU TEAR DOWN BUILDINGS? No, Rhino does not tear down buildings, but we do work hand in hand with a demolition company who does tear down buildings.
• WHAT IS CONSIDERED SELECTIVE DEMO? Select demolition is considered removing or dismantling specific components (inside or outside of building), allowing for the existing structure or floor space to be reused without demolishing and re-building the entire structure. Rhino Demolition brings experience and great care to removing these items without damaging or affecting the existing structure or ongoing operations while preserving safety and security.
